Question 135 - CAI apostolate
Dear Mr. Sungenis,
I recently came across your CAI website, and I would like to thank you very much indeed for your hard work.
I am writing an undergraduate dissertation on Pope Benedict XVI and inter-religious dialogue with Islam. I am in a secular, liberal department with no resources or interest in the topic. My liberal professors advance pluralistic approaches to interreligious dialogue and I have had to "go it alone".
Since I have no access to library resources, my research has been restricted to the internet. I find that the vast swathe of materials out there advances modern sociological thought under the guise of theology, with no or restricted engagement with the Magisterium of the Church. The majority of sources which reject this reading propose schism on the basis of the alleged inconsistencies between pre- and post-conciliar teachings.
As a faithful Catholic who very much wishes to "sentire cum ecclesia", I am nevertheless of the view that much which has been advanced on inter-religious dialogue in the last 40 years by the PCID, lay apologists, and even by Popes teaching ex-cathedra, is not reflective of an authentic understanding of the Church's teaching, as viewed through a "hermeneutic of continuity". However, I understand clearly that I am to be obedient to the Second Vatican Council, and that the Council does not contradict or overturn previous doctrine. Doctrine does not change.
The dialogues on CAI have been tremendously valuable to me. I am trying, humbly and prayerfully, to reach coherent intellectual conclusions, and the apologetics on the site appear to rehabilitate a traditional understanding of dialogue which accepts all councils of the Church. Your work has done more than save my dissertation; it has saved me from schism. I pray that God will reward you richly for your apostolate.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Jane Sian Mycock
R. Sungenis: Jane, thank you so much for your commendation! I'm so glad that our apostolate could be of such tremendous help for you. If it is that way for you, I can imagine it is so for many other who don't write in to tell us. All I can say is, continue in your faith of the Catholic Church, but do so with a critical perspective to protect yourself and those you love. If I can be of any more help to you, please let me know. God be with you.

Hi, Robert, keep up the good works; you’re doing a great service to the Catholic Church by refuting all the lies regarding evolution, and the assumption that the physicists have the answer to all natural phenomena in the created universe, including the existence of mankind. However, I have an objection about that statement you posted that “one the greatest minds are some physicists.” And, if that were the case physicist shall not have all the contradictions that predates this discipline. Then, I wonder, why they had contradicted everything Catholic? A wise man would never contradict Catholic Dogma; for as the Bible puts it, “The foolish say in his heart God does no exist.” So, this bible’s premise contradicts your statement. I still insist that when physicists’ postulates God on both sides of their equations, Catholic dogma in creation will be clearer as the fact that GRAVITY, it is just another unproven theory… for according to my poor knowledge on physics, the GRAVITON, that elusive particle, has yet to be find to support GRAVITY. My theory is that God has created everything, and put the celestial bodies exactly where they belong to make live possible in the universe.
God bless. Rodolfo Mora.
P.S. As you may know by now, English is my second language.
Robert,
You're the best! Keep up the good work!
God Bless,
Andy
As you may see Robert, Rabbis, still acting as our Lord called them (nota all of them) “You’re liars as your father is a liar.” My comment Robert is about the T.V. channels as NGC and the History channel; they are attacking the Church (Catholic) as never had seen before. Since you are very busy, I hope that someday, you can make an overview of these hate mongers of the Catholic Church. Finally, one fact cannot be denied: most of the T.V., Hollywood’s industry, and the Press belong to the rabbinate of the USA. For as you rightly put it, the Rabbi twisted the words of our holy father, about the mission of the Church with the Jews people; the Gospel must be proclaimed from rooftops, to every single tribe and nation, and the Jews cannot be the exemption. May God and his most Holy Mother protect you from the enemies of the Church, Rodolfo Mora.
