Question 77 – Gerry Matatics and the Siri Theory

    Dear Mr. Robert A. Sungenis

I just read Gerry Matatics statement regarding the anti-popes from Pope John 23rd (1958) to the present, and your reply. Some Sedevacantists say that all Popes after Pius XII are invalid, because Cardinal Siri was the licit Pope elected after Pius XII, but prevented from taking office by threats of death by masonic Cardinals.

Do you address this claim in any of your articles? I would be interested in anything you may have published.

    Thank you,

    Richard Rochon

    R. Sungenis: Richard, the Siri Theory, as it is called, has been discredited. The best short but accurate analysis of the Siri Theory was done by John Vennari of Catholic Family News about a year or so ago. I would recommend that you write to Catholic Family News and ask for Vennari's article. Mr. Matatics would do well to read the same article.
