Question 78 – Myths in cosmology

    Dear Bob,
How does one combat this stuff?  There is a lot of crazy thing floating around.

    • The sun "dies" for three days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops in its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north.
    • In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin."
    • The sun is the "Light of the World."
    • The sun "cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him."
    • The sun rising in the morning is the "Savior of mankind."
    • The sun wears a corona, "crown of thorns" or halo.
    • The sun "walks on water."
    • The sun's "followers," "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass.
    • The sun at
12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High"; thus, "he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12.
    • The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30°; hence, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30.
    • The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified," which represents its passing through the equinoxes, the vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected.
    • On December 25th the star Serious lines up with Orions belt (the three kings) and points to the horizon where the sun will rise.  Therefore we have the three kings pursuing the star in the east that leads them to the birth of the sun

The proves that gospels are just esoteric books for the cult of sun worship.  I am being told that all of this stuff goes back to
    Constantine.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Ps.  Reading Galileo was wrong and loving it

    R. Sungenis: Joe, I'm glad you are enjoying Galileo Was Wrong! I get very few complaints or objections from people who actually sit down and read the book, once they find out the scientific information in favor of geocentrism and see the shennanigans that has gone on in history to suppress it. As for the above material, there has always been a biblical/allegorical comparison between God/Christ and the Sun. Malachi makes this clear in Mal 4:2-3: ("But for you who fear my name the Sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go forth leaping like calves from the stall. And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the LORD of hosts). But these are simply allegorical descriptions of Christ, not the object of "sun-worship." As for some of the "sun" facts noted above, yes, some of them are true. For example, it has long been known that there is a three-day lag between. As noted astronomoer Fred Hoyle says: "It was already known to the Greeks that spring-to-summer-to-autumn differs from autumn-to-winter-to-spring by three days. It was explained by Hipparchus” (Nicolaus Copernicus, p. 52). What one does with this information, however, is when claims may not match the reality. One certainly has the right to allegorize it to fit the Christian idea of resurrection, at least for pedagogical purposes. Paul did the same with Sarah and Hagar in Galatians 4. But allegory is as far as one can take it. He cannot claim that these are actual realities, nor can one make the counter claim that Christianity was built on "sun-worship," for they are simply allegories. The same is true with constellations. In reality, there are no "constellations" in the sky of Bears and Scorpions. There are only stars situated somewhat haphazardly that someone could possibly connect the dots in such a way to resemble the outline of a bear or scorpion. But those same dots could have been connected some other way by someone else. All in all, the allegory is to be used for pedagogical purposes, that is, we use some familiar picture or idea to help us remember and apply Gospel truths, but the allegory is never to be made the reality. If it is, then we would, indeed, spill over into idol worship, or "sun-worship," as the case may be.

    Myths in cosmology Thanks again

    Hey Bob,

Thanks again for the great reply.  After I sent my question I found a great response to some of these phony claims on youtube by a guy calling himself grnhead.  FYI  here is the link the the first of his three parts.

I would like to thank you for your efforts with the book on GalileoWhat a great and Fabulous work!!!  I remember as a child sitting watching PBS shows like Cosmos and The Ancient of Man.  I recall the knots in my stomach as my faith was challenged over the David and Goliath scenario that was presented.  Poor little Galileo taking on the big bad Catholic Church Church, and of course science triumphed over faith.  In Catholic grade school and high school it was taught as fact along with evolution.

My belief in evolution was short lived.  Still every now and then I would get those same old doubts and knots in my stomach over the whole Galileo thing.  How could the bible and Church have been wrong if the Catholic Faith is true?  Well, thanks to your work, I now know the answer.  They were not wrong.  Thank you. God bless you.  I will keep you in my prayers.

    R. Sungenis: Joe, that's precisely why I wrote the book on Galileo. So many people have told me after reading it that they no longer have the "stomach" pains they once had when they now watch stories on TV or in books about Galileo and the Church. No longer do they have to say that the Church was defeated and Science was the victor. Ironically, however, Science is a winner in my Galileo Was Wrong book, since I show in over 600 pages that, if you look at REAL science (not the sanitized version that academia gives us) it shows that Science fully supports a geocentric universe. If the rest of the people would only take time to read the book instead of flufing it off as crackpot science, they would easily see it.
